Guildford Lions Big River Race - Duck and Raft Race
Start: Millmead GU2 4BE
Finish: Waterside Centre, GU1 1LW
Get ready for one of Guildford’s most exciting community events as the Guildford Lions Charity Raft Race returns for 2026. A highlight of the local calendar, the race brings together teams, spectators and supporters for a fun-filled afternoon on the River Wey.
This year’s event is all about the rafts - with teams challenged to design, build and race their own creations from Millmead Lock Island to the Waterside Centre. Whether you’re part of a business, community group, or just a group of friends, it’s a fantastic way to get involved, raise funds and enjoy a memorable day. Stand-up paddleboarders are also welcome to take part!
The event is organised by Guildford Lions Club, with support from Zero Carbon Guildford, and helps raise vital funds for local charities and good causes.
From 12 noon, crews can bring their rafts to the Millmead Offices car park and transport them across the footbridge to Millmead Lock Island for assembly. The rafts will be inspected during the afternoon before the race gets underway.
Spectators can enjoy the lively atmosphere along the river and cheer on the teams as they make their way to the finish. A BBQ will be available at the Waterside Centre, where trophies will be presented after the race.
Free for spectators – come along and be part of the fun!
Full details on how to enter a team will be available soon.
This event is FREE for spectators!
