Spectacles recycling
Lions Clubs have been collecting unwanted spectacles and hearing aids for many years and, with the help of the local opticians and doctors surgeries. Guildford Lions Club is involved too. The unwanted spectacles are taken to a depot organised by Chichester Lions Club who also receive spectacles from other Lions Clubs around the south of England.
They are sorted and then shipped to Medico France, Le Havre, who grade them and send them on to Third World countries where they can transform the lives of people and enable them to be educated, work and have productive lives. Similarly unwanted hearing aids can be recycled.
