The first defibrillator for Burpham was installed on Thursday 7th April – outside Aldi on London Road. This results from a campaign to raise over £6,000 fundraising by The Burpham Community Association. Guildford Lions Club donates £750.

The BCA has raised over £6000 and is nearing its target to fund both installations.  Many members of the public have generously donated. Notable contributions have been received also from Surrey County Council through George Potter’s community budget, from the proprietors of the Rajdoot Restaurant, the Bowling Club, Junior and Senior Football Clubs, Guildford City Cricket Youth Project, the Women’s Institute and the Guildford Lions Club.

Aldi have been very cooperative and helpful. Their maintenance contractor, Dance and Dean Limited, fitted the unit free of charge as one of their colleagues had sadly passed away previously from heart failure and they wanted to help The Community Heartbeat Trust by donating their time and resources to the project.

We are in discussion with GBC about a licence required to have another unit installed in Sutherland Memorial Park. We hope that this will be resolved within a matter of weeks.
