On Friday evening 1st March 2024 the well known celebrity BBC TV and radio newsreader, reporter and presenter Michael Buerk entertained 60 Guildford Lions and guests. His talk “I’m not grumpy the world’s gone mad!” was a fun rant about all manner of things, in the mode of Grumpy Old Men! Given the average age of the audience I’d guess he was preaching to the converted.
We were very well fed by Nicki who runs the Daisy Chain restaurant, a favourite of the Lions, with a hot buffet and a grand selection of puds.
At the end of the evening Lions organiser Bob Hackman presented Michael with a cheque for £1,000 for Michael’s charity of choice, the Challengers.
