On 15 December Lions Barry Jutsum, Andy Bustin and Geoff Sheldon were shown around the new Parents Room in the Hascombe Ward at Royal Surrey County Hospital, Guildford.  Our host was Emma Searle from the Momentum charity which undertook the project.

The Hascombe Ward has 20 beds and is the centre of acute general paediatric care at the hospital. Providing family-centred care is at the heart of the paediatric inpatient service and a multidisciplinary team work together to offer a 24 hour service to children, young people and their families and carers.

The Momentum charity supports families across SW London,Surrey and Sussex whose children are facing cancer or a life-changing condition.  Momentum initiated a project to convert a storeroom on the ward to a room for families of patients.  Guildford Lions Club contributed to the cost of that conversion.
