Guildford Lions support benefits cancer patients

Thanks to the support of Guildford Lions Club, cancer patients will experience an improved level of comfort, while undergoing treatment at Royal Surrey County Hospital.

The volunteer-led group donated £2,000 to the hospital’s official charity, which has allowed the charity to buy two state-of-the-art chemotherapy chairs for the hospital’s oncology ward, Onslow Ward, at St Luke’s Cancer Centre.

The chairs, which are padded and recline to provide maximum comfort, will make a real difference to patients undergoing treatment – often for long periods of time.  Analiese Doctrove, Head of Fundraising at Royal Surrey County Hospital Charity, said: “We are extremely thankful for the generous donation from Guildford Lions. The extra comfort the chairs provide will make a real impact, at what can be a very difficult time.”

Royal Surrey County Hospital Charity raises money so that Royal Surrey County Hospital and its community hospitals – Haslemere, Cranleigh and Milford – can provide exceptional care for people in South West Surrey and beyond.  From providing state-of-the-art equipment and redeveloping wards, to funding innovative research and investing in staff development, the charity funds projects that make the biggest impact on the 260,000 people the hospital treats each year.
