Guildford – Fun & Entertainment

Local historian and writer David Rose has agreed to give one of his talks by Zoom.  It will be a charity fundraising event for Guildford Lions club to support our local community.

Access to the Zoom link is £5.

David’s illustrated talk will take a look at the wide range of leisure pursuits people enjoyed in Guildford in times gone by.  His talk will look at the theatres in Guildford from the 19th century through to the Yvonne Arnaud theatre in 1965. There will be a nostalgic look at the towns cinemas, venues that held dinner dances as well as the town’s thriving youth theatre scene.  There will also be a glimpse at some of the pubs that no longer exist and finishing off with Guildford’s exceptional live music scene in the 1960s featuring the bands and venues they played.

Following the talk there will be time for questions and discussion.
